Not all CBD oils are created equal. The extraction method used significantly impacts the quality, purity, and effectiveness of the final product.
CO2 Extraction (Gold Standard)
Supercritical CO2 extraction is considered the gold standard. It produces clean, pure CBD without residual solvents. While expensive, it yields the highest quality products.
Ethanol Extraction
This method uses food-grade alcohol to extract cannabinoids. It's efficient and safe but may extract chlorophyll, affecting taste. Proper purification eliminates this issue.
Oil Extraction
A simple, safe method using carrier oils like olive or coconut oil. Common for homemade products but less efficient for commercial production.
What to Look For
When buying CBD products, look for brands that disclose their extraction method. CO2 extraction is preferred, but properly done ethanol extraction also produces quality results.
